STUDENT of the MONTH

Brunswick senior Mikayla Karla has been chosen as the Medina County Kiwanis September 2025 Student of the Month by a panel of teachers from the Medina County Career Center. Mikayla is a senior in the Animal Management & Care program, where she has served as a class officer for two years. Additionally, Mikayla is a member of the Medina County Career Center Student Leadership Council, the National Technical Honor Society, and serves as a Student Ambassador. Her classmates describe her as dedicated, persistent, and always willing to help anyone she can in any way possible.

Along with her extensive volunteer work, Mikayla also excels in advanced academics, taking AP Physics, AP Statistics, Government, and College Composition I and II. At her home school, Mikayla has been actively involved in the Orchestra for five years, where she earned first chair and section leader honors, as well as summa cum laude recognition for academics. She also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout after demonstrating leadership and completing an extensive service project.

She is the daughter of Michael and Carla Karla Sr. After high school graduation, Mikayla plans to attend the University of Findlay to study pre-veterinary medicine and pursue a doctoral degree specializing in agricultural veterinary medicine.
