When students walk into Brian Hallisy‘s Medical Assisting classroom at the Medina County Career Center | Ohio Technical Center (MCCC | OTC), they’re greeted by more than an instructor—they’re welcomed by someone whose energy, positivity, and genuine passion for teaching are impossible to miss.
Brian joined MCCC last summer after teaching Phlebotomy and Medical Assisting at NewBridge Cleveland, where he helped adult learners prepare for meaningful healthcare careers. He brought that same student-first approach to MCCC, where he quickly found a workplace that shares his commitment to helping every student succeed.
For Brian, healthcare education is about much more than technical skills. He believes great medical assistants also need empathy, compassion, confidence, and resilience—qualities he works to build every day in his classroom.
That enthusiasm extends beyond instruction. Brian is known for encouraging students through academic challenges, celebrating their successes, and reminding them that life’s obstacles don’t have to define their future. One philosophy he often shares is Amor Fati—embracing every experience, both good and bad, as an opportunity to grow.
After his first year at MCCC, Brian says he knows he’s exactly where he belongs. He credits the school’s collaborative culture, dedicated staff, modern training facilities, and strong partnerships with local healthcare providers for creating an environment where both instructors and students can thrive.
Outside the classroom, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife and their cats. The Berea couple can often be found hiking or walking in local Metroparks, and Brian is also an avid basketball fan and video game enthusiast.
