This course is an additional 84-hour course that builds upon the training received in the Firefighter Level I course. Advanced instruction is provided in fire suppression and fire suppression systems, fire behavior, fire chemistry, fire rescue, firefighting tools and their uses, appliances, fire equipment, safety, survival, and hazardous materials operations. Students are required to have a valid (less than one year old) Emergency Vehicle Operations Course certificate, prior to the start of this course.

Prerequisites:

  1.  Must be at least 18 years old
  2.  Have a valid Ohio Driver’s License
  3.  Clean criminal record
  4.  Completion of NIMS 100 & 700
  5.  Valid physical examination (physicals are valid for one year from the date they were performed)
  6.  High School diploma or equivalent
  7.  Eight hours of basic EMS training to include CPR, Trauma, Stroke, and PPE
  8.  Successful completion of the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) or college transcript.
  9.  Current and valid Firefighter I certificate.
  10. Current EVOC certificate completed no more than 12 months prior to the start of class. If a current EVOC certificate is not available, the student will be required to attend the 16-hour EVOC course held at MCCC on April 20-21, 2024.

Students are required to furnish their own turn-out gear and SCBA.

Please note that Saturday classes vary in start and end times; however, they are held during the day. Contact our office to schedule the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) exam BEFORE registering. This class will be held at the Medina County Career Center.
