This course builds on the Fire Officer 1 concepts and provides students with the knowledge to develop leadership principles, succession planning, manage major fire incidents, and define the officer’s role in fire prevention, training, and community outreach. Students must complete pre-course work, participate in group discussions, deliver oral presentations, and complete in-class written work assignments as part of the curriculum. The Fire Officer 2 course will follow the NFPA 1021 standards for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications.
Prerequisites:
- Fire Officer 1 Certificate
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Have a valid Ohio Driver’s License
- Clean criminal record
- Completion of NIMS 100, 200, & 700
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Required – Current and valid ODPS Firefighter 1 or Firefighter 2
- Preferred – Current and valid ODPS Firefighter 2 certificate & Fire/Emergency Services Instructor certificate to fully meet NFPA 1021 standards.
- Employment Verification – Letter from students Fire Chief with verification of employment and a statement of qualifications.
