As the first career technical center in Ohio to join, MCCC hosted an invitational event, bringing together over 150 athletes and Unified partners from five different districts.<\/p>\n<p>This initiative is crucial as it aims to unify people with and without disabilities, promoting social inclusion within educational settings. <strong>Tracy Radabaugh,<\/strong> instructor of the <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/mcjvs.edu\/?page_id=1563\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Career and Community Experience<\/a><\/span> (CCE)<\/strong> program shared her enthusiasm, &#8220;Joining the Unified Champion Schools program was a monumental step for us, especially since we&#8217;re the first career technical center in the state to do so.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The event included participants from <strong>Highland Schools<\/strong>, <strong>Buckeye Schools<\/strong>, <strong>Cloverleaf Schools<\/strong>, <strong>Strongsville Schools<\/strong>, and <strong>Max S. Hayes High School<\/strong> from Cleveland Metropolitan Schools. &#8220;Since we don&#8217;t have a traditional field or track, we decided to bring everyone here and host the event in our own unique way,&#8221; explained <strong>Radabaugh<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The day began with the national anthem, proudly led by MCCC\u2019s <strong>Criminal Justice<\/strong> students. Adding to the festivities, the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/statepatrol.ohio.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Ohio State Highway Patrol<\/strong><\/a><\/span> showcased several vehicles, and the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/medinasheriff.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Medina County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/strong><\/a><\/span> treated everyone to ice cream. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/mcjvs.edu\/?page_id=1528\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Cosmetology<\/strong> <\/a><\/span>students offered face painting and hair tinsel, while <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/mcjvs.edu\/?page_id=1524\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Construction Trades<\/strong><\/a><\/span> students engaged attendees with a prize wheel. The <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/mcjvs.edu\/?page_id=1517\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Business and Marketing Technology<\/strong><\/a><\/span> program provided refreshments with popcorn and coffee, and <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/mcjvs.edu\/?page_id=1511\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Animal Management and Care<\/strong><\/a><\/span> students delighted visitors with a petting zoo.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Radabaugh<\/strong> underscored the collaborative effort involved in the event. &#8220;Making cornhole boards was a unified project that involved CCE and Construction Trades students.&#8221; She emphasized the broader impact of the day, stating, &#8220;Today was about more than just competition; it was a learning experience on the importance of living, working, and playing side-by-side with everyone.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This event not only highlighted the career center&#8217;s commitment to inclusion but also reinforced the importance of community and unity in sports and education.
