Medina County Career Center provides activities and experiences for 7th and 8th grade students throughout the country to help each student achieve future career success. Students enrolled in middle school Project Lead the Way (PLTW) programs receive an introduction to STEM related careers through hands-on, inquiry-based learning.<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Introduces students to computer science and computational thinking, through the creation of mobile apps. Students are challenged to be creative and innovative, as they design and develop mobile solutions to engaging, authentic problems.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

Students explore robotics & automation as they take on the role of interns, & work in teams to create prototypes to meet the needs of clients. They build & analyze mechanical systems & automate them with programmed input & output devices.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

Students use tools such as the design process, a dynamic mathematics software, a computer-aided design program, computer simulations, an engineering notebook, and possibly a 3D printer to design, model, and build objects.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

Students solve medical mysteries through hands-on projects and labs, measure and interpret vital signs, dissect a sheep brain, investigate disease outbreaks, and explore how a breakdown within the human body can lead to dysfunction.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

Students explore how science impacts the technology of yesterday, today, and the future. Students apply concepts of physics, chemistry, & nanotechnology to STEM activities & projects, including making ice cream, cleaning an oil spill, & discovering nanomaterials.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

Students are assisted with the process of self-assessment to identify their interests, strengths, and preferences and learn how these characteristics and attributes relate to future career choices.<\/span><\/p>\n
