DESCRIPTION:Celebrating the contributions and achievements of the men and women who are in the U.S. workforce!\n\nIn 1894\, Grover Cleveland made Labor Day a federal holiday after a failed attempt to break up a railroad strike.\nThe first U.S. Labor Day was celebrated on Tuesday\, September 5\, 1882\, in New York City\, planned by the Central Labor Union.\nOregon was the first state to make Labor Day a holiday in 1887.\nOn June 28\, 1894\, Congress passed an act making the first Monday in September of each year a legal holiday in the District of Columbia and the territories.\n1916 – The year in which the 8-hour day was firmly established with the passage of the Adamson Act.  This was the first federal law regulating the hours of workers in private companies.\nLabor Day unofficially marks the end of summer.\n\nSource:  http://www.forbes.com/sites/steveodland/2012/08/29/10-labor-day-facts/#ca999b6a2796
